Both centers reopened, county says

Updated November 2, 2026, 1:01 PM Central

Two Maricopa County vote centers that temporarily closed because of power-related issues have reopened, county election officials said Monday, one day before the November 3 general election.

Maricopa County Elections initially announced that the centers at Paradise Community College and Sunset Canyon School were temporarily closed. In a later update, the department said both were open again.

The county did not specify in those notices how long each center was closed or what caused the power problems. The reopening announcement describes the status at the time it was issued; voters should consult the county’s official location finder for current hours and availability before traveling.

How to find a place to vote

The county directed voters to its vote-center and drop-box locator to find a nearby option. The tool lists locations, opening dates and hours; check the current listing because schedules can differ by day and site.

On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, the county says vote centers are scheduled to operate from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Arizona time. Voters must show acceptable identification for in-person voting, according to the county’s election information.

The notices concerned two named sites; they did not announce a countywide shutdown. A temporary power problem also does not, by itself, establish that ballots were lost or that the disruption was deliberate.

From closure notice to reopening

The county’s initial X notice described the closures as temporary and pointed voters to other locations. Its subsequent reopening post quoted the earlier announcement and said both locations were back open.

The department has also scheduled a public briefing about Election Day operations. Readers seeking the latest information should rely on the county’s current location finder and election office notices rather than an older social-media headline.
