WWE superstar Alexa Bliss revealed this week that she was recently diagnosed with skin cancer. The diagnosis came after she had a biopsy done on a spot on her face, which turned out to be cancerous.
In a message to her fans, Bliss is urging everyone to “get your skin checked!”. This is an important reminder to all of us that skin cancer can affect anyone – regardless of age, gender or skin color.
According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common type of cancer. It’s estimated that more than 5 million cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States alone.
The good news is that skin cancer is usually treatable, especially if it’s caught early. However, it’s important that we all take steps to protect our skin from the damaging effects of the sun.
This includes wearing protective clothing, avoiding the sun during peak hours, and using sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30. In addition, it’s important to perform regular skin self-exams and to see a dermatologist if you notice any changes in your skin.
By taking these steps, we can all lower our risk of developing skin cancer and increase our chances of catching it early if we do. Thank you to Alexa Bliss for sharing her story and reminding us all to take care of our skin.
