A warning, and what is actually known

Updated November 2, 2026, 2:40 p.m. Central

Commentator Tucker Carlson has alleged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pressing President Donald Trump toward a U.S. nuclear strike on Iran. The claim is unverified, and Trump has publicly rejected using a nuclear weapon against the site Carlson identified.

In a November 2 post on X, Carlson said a decision could come within days and named the underground site known as Pickaxe Mountain. Mediaite reported on his warning and noted that his allegations had not been independently verified.

Separately, officials told The Associated Press that Netanyahu had pressed Trump for another wave of strikes after Tuesday’s U.S. midterms. That reporting concerns renewed military action; it does not establish Carlson’s claim about nuclear weapons.

Carlson’s allegation

Carlson, a former Fox News host and prominent critic of the Iran war, attributed his account to an unnamed informed observer, according to Mediaite. He claimed Netanyahu was pressing Trump repeatedly and suggested November 7 as a possible decision point. Neither the alleged nuclear plan nor that date has been independently established.

Carlson also warned of severe consequences. Those predictions are his own assessment, not evidence that a nuclear strike has been ordered or that a particular outcome is inevitable.

Mediaite reported that Trump said in an October 15 interview that he would not use nuclear weapons when discussing a potential attack on the site. That earlier statement is relevant context, though it cannot establish every private discussion since.

Trump says there is no rush

In a November 2 interview with Axios, Trump said he was in no rush to decide whether to resume fighting with Iran. Axios reported that diplomacy and preparation for possible renewed action remained under consideration.

AP reported that Netanyahu urged strikes in a weekend call, citing a person briefed on the conversation, and that Trump did not commit. The Israeli government did not immediately comment, and the White House did not directly answer AP’s questions about the leaders’ discussion.

AP also reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump preferred a diplomatic solution. Iran’s officials have said they are prepared for either diplomacy or war; the outcome of talks remains uncertain.

Why the distinction matters

Pressure to consider conventional strikes and an imminent decision to use a nuclear weapon are very different claims. AP’s reporting on the former cannot be used as proof of the latter. The president’s public comments and Carlson’s warning also point in different directions; neither reveals a final decision that has not been announced.

The immediate questions are whether negotiations progress, whether Washington decides on further strikes, and whether verifiable evidence emerges to support the nuclear allegation.

Where is the site?

Pickaxe Mountain is near the Natanz nuclear complex in central Iran, according to Reuters. The star marks the approximate Natanz area, not a precise location or a depiction of an attack.
